Azim Lalani
Chief Financial Officer, Tantalus Systems
Board Chair, UBC Investment Management
Azim Lalani is the Chief Financial Officer of Tantalus Systems (TSX: GRID), a public technology company helping utilities modernize the electric distribution grid. He also serves as Board Chair of UBC Investment Management, which manages more than $7 billion in assets for The University of British Columbia.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Azim immigrated to Canada at age seven. He is a graduate of UBC Commerce, a CPA, and a Gold Medal recipient on the CBV Final Examination.
Over more than 30 years, Azim has built a career in finance and leadership by showing up, committing to continuous learning, and being ready when opportunities arise.
Bronche Cheng
Founder, igluminate
Former Partner & People Leader, KPMG
Bronche Cheng is the Founder of igluminate, a purpose-driven organization building an ecosystem where Asian talent flourishes.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Bronche knows firsthand the challenges immigrants face building careers in a new country. As a mentor at KPMG, Ascend Canada, and UBC, she watched countless capable Asians live that same story.
After 27 years in public practice, she turned to coaching and leadership to close a gap she kept seeing: the culturally specific support Asians need to go from great to extraordinary. Her own path, from newcomer to KPMG partner, shows what happens when opportunity meets preparation. Through igluminate, she helps others get ready for theirs.
